Perfect Palette: A Kiss of Rosy Dew

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Given the romantic theme of the day, I thought this beautiful image of that most romantic of flowers – the rose – would make a wonderfully appropriate colour palette. It’s a luscious, heady combination of rich reds and pinks, with just a hint of the deep lavender sheen of soft, silky petals…

Find some beautiful art and admire it, and realize that that was created by human beings just like you, no more human, no less.

Perfect Palette: Aurora Borealis

It’s deepest, darkest January. The bright lights of Christmas are over, but there’s another set of lights to replace them – the breathtaking Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. Shimmering, dancing, glowing ribbons of colour piercing the cold, black nights with glorious shades of green, turquoise, blue and purple. Utterly beautiful.

Out with the old, in with the new…

Now that 2016 is coming to an end, I thought I’d see the year out with a bang. I am therefore very pleased to announce that I’ve just opened my own shop on Folksy! They’re a great UK-based marketplace with a steadfast focus on high quality, handmade goods produced by independent designers, artists and makers. Running a shop is new territory for me, and while I’m sure that there will be ups, downs and challenges along the way, I couldn’t be happier to finally have my own little outlet to share my work with a wider audience.

I have plans to create quite a few products over the coming months (and hopefully years!), but for now, I’m kicking things off with some beautiful giclée prints and greeting cards featuring my designs. Let me know what you think, and if you have any feedback or suggestions for products you’d like to see, please do get in touch – I’d love to hear from you!

Perfect Palette: Cool Pink Petals

I won’t bore you with colour theory, but colours can be either ‘warm’ or ‘cool’ in hue, and this gorgeous photo is the perfect encapsulation of ‘cool’ pinks. They have just that tiny bit more blue than red in them, giving them a slightly frosty vibe. It’s also what makes them coordinate so well with various shades of purple and blue (which, naturally enough, are also ‘cool’ colours). The result is this beautifully harmonious, and decidedly cool colour palette.

Perfect Palette: Sunlit Woodland

Autumn is rapidly setting in, but I haven’t quite resigned myself to the end of summer just yet. I couldn’t resist this beautifully tranquil photo of a sunlit wood. I love the subtle and relaxing shades of green and blue, while the wonderfully vibrant green and yellow of the leaves suggest that crisp, fresh feeling just after a light shower of summer rain.
